The old French grape variety produces colorful, almost purple-black wines with an unmistakable flavor. They caress the palate with plum notes, shine with fruity spiciness and acidity – the finish can definitely be called opulent. Although the grape variety has lost its importance in Europe, it does celebrate lavish parties in the southern hemisphere – especially in Argentina.
Vaglio Miperal Distrito El Peral Malbec
The Miperal is the top wine and there are only a few hundred bottles a year. Dark ruby red to black. Almost oily consistency in the glass. In the nose a great variety of aromas, ravishingly intoxicating, so lush, even the nose has potential for addiction. Dark berries, thick, black, ripe, juicy blackberries, pepper, chocolate, herbs and light earthy flavors. On the palate voluptuous and round with fleshy, very juicy tannins, everything with a wonderful length. Also in the mouth that ripe, juicy blackberry, some strawberry and cherry, spicy and slightly earthy flavors are added. This intense wine can be served with a fried roast beef, liver or kidneys.
Château du Cèdre Marcel Malbec
This is a very charming table wine. Cherry on the nose, fragrant and round. Cedar wood, some blackberry. Very soft, finely polished tannin and medium strong structure on the palate. Down to earth and honest. This works well on its own as well as with a steak or ratatouille.
Catena Malbec
This Malbec has a dense, red violet color in the glass. Flavors of red and black fruits handle the bouquet and the palate. Its supple tannins are slightly sweet, round the wine and lead over to a long finish.
Salentein Primus Malbec
Intense flavors of dark berry fruit with cassis and cherries, but also greenish, herbaceous components such as clove and a little pepper have a very good effect both on the nose and on the palate. The mouthfeel of the Salentein Primus Malbec is lush from the start and the tannins are sweet and soft, which is regular for this grape variety. The good structure and the fine acidity combine remarkably well with each other. Although the acid is present in the Salentein Primus Malbec, it appears pleasantly fresh. The wine is long and elegant and goes well with pasta or white fish.
Callia Malbec Selected
The Callia Malbec Selected is dark red, lively and with light purple tones. Dense flavors of wild berries, raspberries and cherries merge with notes of vanilla, which are due to the aging in oak barrels. The long lasting mouthfeel of this wine from Argentina is supported by firm, structured and yet sweet and pleasant tannins. The grapes for Callia Selected Malbec were harvested by hand early in the morning in order to take advantage of the cool hours and to ensure transport at the right heat.
The Beefsteak Club Beef & Liberty Malbec
The Beefsteak Club Beef & Liberty Malbec is lively and smells intensely of ripe blackberries and plums with a hint of milk chocolate. The wine owes its depth and fullness and the beautifully rounded flavor to a gentle use of wood for 6 months. With its smooth tannin and persistent this Malbec is just the right companion for a juicy steak. The varietal Malbec comes from the highlands of Mendoza, from different growing areas in the heart of the region. The selected grapes for this wine, which thrive on vineyards at different heights, are high quality and have ripened as long as possible.
